ChristChurch Guestbook

Thank you for visiting our pages.

We would love it if you would add to this guestbook we are keeping!   Guestadd

I was looking for a 4xgrandfather called John Fricker and came upon this site. Being a fellow catholic I thought I would look and see you site. My father became a catholic when he married mum so I don't think your Father John is related.

Last Sunday (5th July) Fr Patrick Hayward and I celebrated our 50th Anniversary of Priesthood. To mark the occasion we had a lovely Mass at Christchurch and we would like to thank all those who came:the Bishop of Oslo, the Bishop of Nottingham, Bishop John Arnold, Auxiliary in Westminster, many priest friends, friends and family from many parts of the world and of course the presence of many parishioners. We are deeply grateful to all those who helped prepare for the day: the Community of Christ Church Priory, the choir and servers and the many helpers who welcomed our guests and helped with parking and seating. Many who could not be there sent greetings promising to be with us in spirit. We will not forget them. Indeed to all who have helped us not just this year but throughout our lives we say thank you and ask you to continue to support us. In our turn we hold you all in our hearts in love and gratitude.

I have come to the end of my sabbatical year and I want to thank everyone who helped to make it possible. I have been able to travel, see beautiful things, study, pray, renew friendships and to thank some of the many people who have helped me to fulfill different offices. I am deeply grateful to everyone and will offer Mass for your intentions as soon as I can. Thank you again and God bless.

Surely Christ Church should have a space between Christ Church even if you have put a capital C for Church. It is the Church of Christ not the place down on the South Coast

You have a very beautiful church and I attend the Sunday mass at 9.30 am. I happened to attend the family mass once and it was lovely, because I love seeing the small children and young adults join in the prayer and singing. I'm here for six months now and I love your beautiful country. I am going back to my country soon.

As many were away when I came completed my time as Parish Priest at Christ Church I now take this opportunity to thank everyone for all your help and support. I have found it a fulfilling and rewarding time. I am to have a sabbatical in which I shall visit friends and also do some study. I hope to renew contacts on my return. By way of thanksgiving I shall say Mass for your intentions.

The Christchurch Young Adults returned from Lourdes today, tired and aching, but very glad to have had the opportunity to serve the Pilgrims of the Archdiocese of Edinburgh and St Andrews. We had a fantastic time, getting to know each other better and appreciating the opportunity to serve the elderly and disabled pilgrims from the Edinburgh group that we help. Thank you to all the parishoners who have supported us fianically and with their time and prayers - we remembered and gave thanks for you all while we were there.

Have you heard about the Small Groups that are meeting regularly from Christchurch? We meet, read the Gospel for the forthcoming Sunday and talk about it. Benefits? Making new friends and feeling part of the parish community; finding out about our Faith; being more attentive to readings during Mass on Sunday (because we've already read and thought about them!) If you would like to know more, to join a group or start one please contact me, Barbara - contact number soon to be with other Small Group information on this website and at back of Church. Or send me an e-mail.

For the past four years, the approach of Easter has brought with it the sad reminder of the death on Easter Saturday, 2001 of Fr. Christopher. A Memorial Fund was started in his memory and this year will be closed. Anyone who has not made a donation to this fund and would like to do so is asked to contribute as soon s possible. Many have reason to be grateful for the compassion and vision of Fr. Christopher, not least in his formation of the Christchurch Young Adults group and their annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, and the weekly prayers for the sick. Until the exact amount is known it is not possible to say what form his memorial will take but ant suggestions will be considered. We hope to provide a permanent reminder of Fr. Christopher's work. Please place any offerings in an envelope clearly marked "Father Christopher" and hand it to one of the clergy.

We finished redecorating the church about a year ago and everyone seemed to be pleased with the work done. We must now turn our attention to the hall. Hall users have been consulted on what is needed and plans have been drawn in the light of those statements. We aim to provide an attractive environment for parish activities and a location that we can let with confidence. This month we shall be launching out appeal for funds. We calculate that we shall need £100,000. Gift envelopes will be available and we shall be contacting everyone on the parish register. Fund raising events will also be held. Please help if you can. Next Thursday, January 27th is Holocaust Memorial Day. In 2000 the Pope gave us this prayer: God of our Fathers, you chose Abraham and his descendents to bring your name to the nations: we are deeply saddened by the behaviour of those who in the course of history have caused these children of yours to suffer, and asking your forgiveness we wish to commit ourselves to genuine brotherhood with the people of the Covenant. Pope John Paul. Jerusalem 2000.

I find the website very interesting and I commend Fr Anthony Maggs and the community for the effort. The Christ Church community has done quite a lot to help me (and other catholic students) feel at home since arrival for further study from Africa.Frankly, life here would be more difficult without their prayers and encouragement and we pray that the church continues to grow in leaps and bounds to cater for the faith of her members, especially in light of the present world situation.Amen!!!

Just to remind you all that, as well as the children's Mass and Midnight Mass, there will be a further Mass at 8pm this year, with music provided by the CYA. So come along willing to sing and welcome Christmas in :)

I used to go to Christ Church and I have seen some pictures of my friends when we were little and they were in the Brownies and they made me cry. I miss you so much and I hope that the Brownie pack is still in good condition. I went to St. Mary's and I loved it I hope that soon I will be able to have a stronger relationship with the friends that I saw on the photos over the wires. We moved over here quite a while ago and we will be back next year. I miss the church but we were able to visit when my cousin had her wedding this summer and I'm longing to be able to participate in the masses again I hope that all the parish is in good condition and I can't wait to see you all again.

We are preparing the second phase of our development programme, namely Christchurch Parish Centre. We shall need a great deal of money, lets say about £100,000. To that end we are inviting parishioners to come up with ideas and projects for fund raising e.g.swimming, marathons, coffee mornings, cheese and wine evenings, anything. To start us off we have a talk with slides on the Round the World Yaght Race, by Neville Maggs Thursday 18th November in the Centre at 7:30. A collection will be taken.

This Sunday (5th Sept) Fr Jim Brand will be with us and will be preaching at all Masses as a preparation for the Parish Retreat which will begin on Monday. If you haven't already picked up a leaflet, there are some at the back of the church. Lets make this retreat a special occasion for the Parish.

I am a parishioner of St. Stephens in Welling and took the "tour" of your beautiful church after following a link from the new St. Stephens site (www.saintstephens.co.uk). Although I regularly drive past your church I had no idea how truly beautiful it is inside (aside from the beauty I always find in a place of worship). Maybe one day I will come to mass at Christchurch and enjoy the splendour in person.
